We are looking forward to welcoming competing players. Please find below information on our player hosting, buddy hitting and court access and events taking place throughout the week.

Family Hosting

Several our club members are offering to host players in the tournament for free. This is however on a first come first served basis and a number are already booked up. If you would like to make use of this and have not already booked, please contact or 07929 922 596 as soon as possible as rooms are going fast. Please note Family Hosting is only available to those 18 years and above.

Padel Pro Am with Annabel Croft (Wednesday 18th May)

On Wednesday afternoon Annabel Croft will be at the club promoting our new Padel court. Players are invited to join in for a fun Padel Pro Am game with Annabel and some of our club members. Sign up on the day and we will try to fit you in depending on your tennis match schedule. Afterwards, Annabel will be answering a Q&A session in the Clubhouse with BBC presenter Dot Davies.

Quiz Night (Thursday 19th May)

All players remaining in the draw are invited for a FREE food and quiz night with our members on Thursday evening. Please ask one of club volunteers for further information.

Buddy Hitting and Court Access

The tournament will take place on our 4 synthetic Lano Grand Clay floodlit courts. The courts will be available to all players for warm up hitting from early morning till late at night. If the gate padlock is locked please enter code 01914 to open.

Some of our coaches and club champions will be available for “buddy hitting”. If you want to take advantage of this, please contact or 07485 256 169 and he will make arrangements for you.

Clubhouse and Deuce Bar

Our Clubhouse and Bar will be open throughout the tournament serving hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks from 12 midday till 2pm. There are shower facilities, toilets and a clubroom area for you to use. Free wifi is also available.

Racket Stringing

One of our coaches Tom Bellingham is available for racket stringing at reasonable prices. Please contact Tom on 07896 493 257.

Physio and Sports Massage

Festival of Tennis

We have a number of tennis related activities taking place on our hard courts away from the tournament courts throughout the week. We would encourage any tournament players to come along, watch and take part as appropriate.

Our Club is located approximately 12 minutes walk from Penarth train station. Penarth itself is a short distance from the Capital of Wales, Cardiff, and is easily accessed via car or public transport.


On-street Parking is available on the roads surrounding the Club (Evenlode Avenue or Clinton Road are the closest). We ask visitors to be mindful of our neighbours when parking their vehicles. Our postcode is CF64 3JJ. For further directions and local transport options, please read on.

By car

Penarth is located to the West of Cardiff. To avoid Cardiff City Centre traffic, it is best to access Penarth using Junction 33 of the M4. Directions as follows:

  • Exit the M4 at Junction 33
  • Follow the A4232 heading south towards Cardiff for approximately 6 miles.
  • Take the exit signposted Barry (A4055) and Penarth (A4160).
  • At the roundabout take the 3rd exit for Barry.
  • Continue straight-ahead, through the lights with the Morrisons supermarket on your left.
  • Keep in the right-hand lane until you reach the lights at the top of the hill.
  • Continue straight-ahead following the A4055 towards Barry.
  • At the next set of traffic lights (adjacent to the Merrie Harrier Pub) turn left following signs for Sully (B4267).
  • Continue on the B4267 for 1 mile. After you pass through a set of traffic lights (adjacent to the Cefn Mably), take the 2nd left onto Evenlode Avenue.
  • The tennis club is located on your right after approximately 400m.

By train

Penarth railway station is located approximately 12 minutes walk from the tennis club. A regular train service runs from Cardiff Central Station, with 2-4 trains per hour depending on the time of day.

Trains depart from Platform 8 of Cardiff Central Station and take 10 minutes.

To continue to the club by foot:

  • Exit the station and continue ahead onto Victoria Road.
  • Turn left onto Victoria road and walk for 600m.
  • After you pass the zebra crossing, take the next left onto Clinton Road.
  • Continue for 30m and turn right onto Larkwood Avenue. The club is located on your left shortly after you arrive on Larkwood Avenue.

This tennis tournament will take place from Monday May 16th to Saturday May 21st, 2022 and will comprise both a Men’s Singles tournament and also a Ladies’ Singles tournament.


Format and Schedule

Starts Monday 16th May 2022 and ends Saturday 21st May 2022

Events throughout the week for players, club members and the general public

  • Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th is the Qualifier Event
  • Wednesday 18th will be the first day of the main draw
  • Thursday 19th will be the 2nd round of the main draw
  • Quarter-Finals and  Semi-Finals will be held on Friday 20th May
  • On Saturday 21st May the Men’s and Women’s Finals will take place

Free Event

This is a free event open to all spectators.


Please note that some of our non-tournament activities are restricted to members of the tennis club. However, we welcome members of the public to come along and support where they are able to do so. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Entries to the tournament are operated by the Lawn Tennis Association and are strictly for those players who meet their entry requirements (i.e. GB ranking).

Public Events

We want all our members, players, spectators and the general public to enjoy this fantastic week of professional tennis. To support the main tournament we will be hosting a range of activities throughout the weekend to get everyone involved and celebrate our club and show off our tennis skills.
